Gazan lawyer makes a direct demand to Hamas to fully accept the US-proposed deal, free the hostages, relinquish power, accept blame for the war, allow schools to function and stop stealing aid.

Moumen al-Natour risked being murdered by Hamas while being interviewed inside Gaza City when it was still largely under Hamas control. The lawyer, now 30, previously told Cap-Rep that he has a thousand young men and women in a Youth Organisation who are willing to run services inside ‘liberated areas’ while the Gaza Strip returns to some form of normality. Speaking at continuing severe personal risk from inside the Gaza Strip, he accuses Hamas of being fully responsible for the devastation that has continued for nearly two years, as the Islamist movement refused for all that time to accede to international demands for the safe return of all the hostages that Hamas seized on October 7 2023.

In this video, Al-Natour demands that Hamas hand over its weapons to an international body that, under the Trump plan, would at least temporarily run the devastated Gaza Strip. He claims that the death toll and the destruction of infrastructure like hospitals and schools is the consequence of Hamas’s actions. He calls on Hamas to immediately accept the Trump plan, and to abandon any efforts to reassert its rule over the Gaza Strip. He again accuses Hamas of siphoning off aid to earn black-market money. He has said that its “stealing” of aid also keeps the war going by supplying its fighters and their families.

Hamas — enough…Just accept the Trump proposal. It’s the best proposal currently on the table. Not just the Israelis, the Americans, the world, and the Arabs — everyone now rejects you. We, the people of Gaza, no longer want you. We don’t want your rule.

Even before October 7 [2023], we were fed up with your rule. And today, after you destroyed us and left the country in ruins, we don’t want your rule…. Release the Israeli hostages. And [by so doing] release at least some of the Palestinian prisoners [in Israeli jails or detention]…because you could release the number you created after October 7 [2023]. We say: accept the proposal and hand over your weapons to international forces that are slated for deployment in Gaza. Enough stealing our bread. Enough stealing our aid. Enough stealing everything in our lives. You stole our money and you stole our lives. You robbed us, you laid us waste, you destroyed us. [Without you] Let us rebuild the Gaza Strip. Let us rebuild our lives. Let us get our children back to school. Let us rebuild the hospitals that were destroyed because of you. Enough, you criminals and mercenaries. Let us rebuild ourselves.

In another video here, Al-Natour talks about changing the education system of Palestinians, which he says teaches hatred and anti-Jewish racism:
